AFRO-AMERICAN SERIES

What does it mean to be Black in this society?

The “AFRO-AMERICAN" series concentrates on my perspective as a Black, African American. It encompasses how I have grappled with learning and interpreting the history of oppression within our community, and how it shapes the way I think today. It aims to uplift by showing the underrepresented Black perspective in a positive light. It uses bright colors to represent the loud personality of my people, and other symbols of power and nobility that is in and of our culture. In contrast, is also uses darker symbols representative of the years of oppression. These two element I use in order to tell the story of learning my history, as I go through that journey.
